About AMESECT

Amesect is a South African insect biotechnology company developing decentralised, modular technology to convert organic waste into high-value biological products. Our proprietary MAGIC³ (Mobile Automated Grow-Insect Climate Control Chamber) system uses Black Soldier Fly larvae to process organic waste streams — including food waste, brewers' spent grain, and abattoir waste — at the point where that waste is generated. Rather than relying on large, centralised facilities, we deploy modular units directly at client sites, reducing capital intensity, logistics costs, and time to deployment. We are currently demonstrating commercial bioconversion operations with select clients, including a live deployment at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve in the Western Cape. At laboratory scale, we have also demonstrated the potential to extract high-value bio-based products from BSF biomass — with commercial-scale development of these outputs forming a core part of our Phase 2 growth strategy. Africa already has a deep, informal history of Black Soldier Fly production. We see this as a strategic foundation, not a starting point we need to create. Our long-term vision includes enabling trained community-based operators to participate directly in the insect bioeconomy — as producers and economic beneficiaries, not just observers of an industry built elsewhere. We are currently engaging with the Philippi Economic Development Initiative (PEDI) and Noliqua Legacy NPC to develop and pilot this model. In 2026, Amesect was named one of Bloomberg's Top 25 Companies to Watch in Africa — one of only four South African companies recognised. We welcome conversations with investors, prospective clients, and partners who share our belief that the future of sustainable waste management in Africa should be decentralised, scalable, and inclusive.
