APL is a Swedish pharmaceutical company with more than 30 years experience in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, has an annual turnover of about 147 M€ and about 500 employees at four production facilities in Sweden (Umeå, Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö) and also at preparation units at hospitals. APL is a one of the largest manufacturers of extemporaneous pharmaceuticals in Europe. We are also a leading Scandinavian contract manufacturer in the Life science sector with resources for development, manufacturing and analysis of pharmaceuticals. Our services are offered to biotech and pharmaceutical companies, Swedish healthcare and pharmacies. APL has two business areas, Healthcare & Pharmacies and Life science. The Business Area Healthcare & Pharmacies contains the core of APL’s operations, developing and manufacturing of extemporaneous preparations. APL has provided the Swedish healthcare industry these tailor-made pharmaceuticals for over 40 years. The 1st of June 2010 a new regulation on extemporaneous drug pharmacies came into force. The regulation gives pharmaceutical manufacturers the possibility to produce and sell extemporaneous drugs after approval from the Swedish Medical Products Agency. In April 2011, APL gained approval to continue manufacturing and selling extemporaneous drugs. APL cooperates with Swedish pharmacies. Today, APL serves all Swedish pharmacies with extemporaneous drugs. In Business Area Life science, APL offers contract manufacturing of registered pharmaceuticals, development and manufacturing of clinical trial materials (CTM) as well as analytical services. APL supports a wide range of clients, from large global pharmaceutical companies to small enterprises, and is a member of several organizations such as SwedenBIO.
