Das Auguste-Viktoria-Gymnasium Trier (AVG) in der rheinland-pfälzischen Stadt Trier ist ein Gymnasium mit bilingualem Zug und dem Schwerpunkt Mathematik-Informatik-Naturwissenschaften, das 1879 als städtische Schule gegründet wurde. Die Anfänge des AVG reichen allerdings weiter zurück, als 1652 gründeten Augustinerinnen aus Lothringen („Welschnonnen“) hier eine schulgeldfreie Mädchenschule. Nach der Auflösung des Klosters im Kulturkampf entstand am gleichen Standort zunächst eine paritätische städtische (1879), dann staatliche Schule, die seit 1913 den Namen Auguste-Viktoria-Schule bzw.-Gymnasium trägt, nach Auguste Viktoria, der Ehefrau von Kaiser Wilhelm II. +++ The Auguste-Viktoria-Gymnasium Trier (AVG) in the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Trier is a bilingual high school with a focus on mathematics, computer science and natural sciences, which was founded in 1879 as a municipal school. The beginnings of the AVG go further back, when in 1652 Augustinian nuns from Lorraine founded a tuition-free girls' school here. After the monastery was dissolved during the "Kulturkampf", a parity municipal (1879) and then state school was established at the same location, which has been called Auguste-Viktoria-School or Gymnasium since 1913, after Auguste Viktoria, the wife of Kaiser Wilhelm II.
