About Aviation Cultures
Since 2015, Aviation Cultures has organised series of inclusive conferences and related events where researchers and practitioners come together to share their knowledge and ideas about flight, and its place in history and society. To share and collaborate on new and different ideas about flight. These events have grown and evolved from small beginnings into major gatherings of people from around the globe who are interested in not just what aviation is, and what it can do, but also how it has evolved over time and how people are interwoven in that journey. The Aviation Cultures events are run by Aviation Cultures Conferences Inc., and as well as stand-alone events, have also included partnerships with several universities, currently including the University of Southern Queensland, Heritage of the Air organisation, PopCRN, and for the forthcoming Conference, partnerships with the Canadian Aviation Historical Society and KF Centre for Excellence in Canada. The events have been in-person, online and blended, short and multi-day. The Aviation Cultures team intentionally seeks out a variety of perspectives, and beyond the traditional. These insights can be from practitioners (maintainers, pilots, restoration teams, air traffic controllers, etc), researchers (academics, students, museum volunteers, model-builders, etc.), archaeologists, sociologists, people from a civil or military background and those with varied lived experiences of all kinds. Subjects are not limited to aircraft and aviators, but the infrastructure, ideas, dreams and analysis of all aspects of flight and aviation.
