We are based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, The Misfits is a Zero-waste, sustainable Consumer Packaged food start-up that rescues rejected, unattractive and misfit fruits and vegetables perfectly suitable for human consumption. Why? - Globally, 1.05 billion tonnes of food is wasted across the value chain, annually - India ranks 7th in this global food waste & loss, 68.8 million tonnes equivalent to economic impact of $13 billion - Food waste & loss generates 8-10% of greenhouse gases - India ranks 111 among 125 countries as per Global Hunger Index Report, 2023 As believers of utilizing whole fruit and vegetables, upcycling and cooking up something new from what is available in the pantry, we decided to take matters in our own hands and do something in a small way to fight food waste. We source rejected, surplus and ugly fruits and vegetables directly fresh from farmers and mandis before they are either discarded or used as animal fodder. These ingredients are transformed into delectable, nutritious and fiber-rich packaged foods through upcycling, creating sustainable products that are good for the planet and for our consumers.
