There’s a quiet revolution happening in period care. 1.8bn women (& AFAB) menstruate globally, & most stick with whatever product they were first handed. For decades that's meant single-use pads & tampons. But things began to shift. Environmental concerns cracked the door open. We bin around 49 billion disposables each year and they take 1000+years to decompose. Then we asked “what’s actually in these products?.” 3 reports found unacceptable toxins, including in ALL 14 tampon brands tested, even organic ones. And inserting those into a vaginal canal up to 20x more absorbent than skin? A tad concerning. So many began exploring Reusables like menstrual cups & discs and uptake surged. 90+ million now use cups & discs. From the original Mooncup, there's now over 70 brands. And it’s getting really exciting. In 2026, "Emm" will release the first SMART cup, using biosensors to analyse menstrual blood for fertility data. Linked to an app, it shifts period products from simply containing flow to revealing insights about our body. And this is just the start. Menstrual blood, once dismissed as waste, is rich with health data. Future cups and discs could give at-home insights into fertility, endometriosis, cancers, diabetes & more. Real-time data. Real answers. From home. But there’s still one missing piece. To choose cups or discs with confidence, women need to use them anywhere, anytime, with ease. Enter Bettii. While Bettii Presents has been championing women’s health publicly, behind the scenes we’ve been building something world-first. The Bettii Pod is a hands-free, fully automatic menstrual cup and disc washer, plumbed into away-from-home toilet cubicles (uni’s, offices, gyms, stadiums, airports, museums…). The first of her kind, she lets women manage their cup or disc with complete privacy. No bottles, no wipes, no awkward sink moments. Just you and your cup.
