It attaches to standard cephalic hip fixation nails during the initial surgery, requiring no additional procedure, no technique change, and no new instruments beyond a single screwdriver. The sensor measures internal body forces directly at the fracture site, continuously, for 6-12 months without recharging, and with 100% patient compliance. Data flows from the implant to the patient's smartphone via Bluetooth, then to a cloud platform where proprietary algorithms generate Digital Mobility Outcomes. Surgeons access a dashboard showing objective recovery metrics that enable evidence-based discharge decisions, early complication detection, and personalized rehabilitation management. Patients are empowered be receiving tailored recovery feedback on their smartphone. Prior to starting BIOS we have developed an active implantable medical device from idea to clinical application once before: the AO Fracture Monitor, the world's first implanted bone healing sensor. The FDA granted BIOS Medical Breakthrough Device Designation and invited the company into the Total Product Life Cycle Advisory Program.
