Center for Indonesia’s Strategic Development Initiatives (CISDI) is a center of expertise that aims to advance health sector development and strengthen the health system through a research, advocacy, and programmatic intervention approach. Driven by a multidisciplinary team, CISDI designs impactful solutions that inspire healthier and more equitable futures for all. Founded in 2014, CISDI was born from the spirit of Pencerah Nusantara (PN), a pioneering initiative launched in 2011 by Diah Saminarsih during her tenure as Deputy Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The program introduced a collaborative model to strengthen primary health care across Indonesia. PN deployed experienced health workers to the areas that have various health challenges. The intervention program was later adopted nationally by the Ministry of Health in 2015 as Nusantara Sehat. CISDI continues this legacy by driving research, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration to address complex health system challenges—from campaigning on diverse health issues to conducting an array of various health intervention programs. Guided by evidence and empathy, CISDI envisions building a healthy and equitable Indonesia.
