CUUL is a registered non-profit organisation established to plan and manage projects and activities designed to strengthen the Library and Information Services of the participating institutions in Uganda. The biennially elected executive committee and member institutions of the Consortium are striving to become outstanding collaborators, committed to complimenting and pushing the boundaries of teaching, learning, research and creative expression through knowledge promotion with adeptness in the provision of Library and information services. The Consortium organizes workshops to assist in skills and knowledge development and facilitate better management of Library resources. And there is a staff exchange programme that promotes exchange of expertise for direct assistance and training support. The consortium partners with relevant organizations (such as EIFL, International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications, Research4Life,The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, The Vice Chancellors Forum of Uganda, National Council for Higher Education, Research and Education Network for Uganda, Uganda National Council for Science and Technology, etc) that facilitate opportunities for improving the quality of Library and Information Services.
