About DURABLE EU4Health Project
Strengthening Europe’s Epidemic Preparedness Outbreaks of infectious diseases are increasing. This trend is driven by multiple local and global changes that disrupt the fragile balance of the complex human-animal-environment ecosystem. The increased frequency and complexity of health threats require a different, unified form of preparedness and a coordinated, fast, reliable and effective emergency response. Durable is a European research consortium of more than 220 experts and researchers from top-class laboratories in Europe from medical and veterinary fields. We are a European network of top research and public health laboratories that focuses on improving preparedness for infectious disease outbreaks and other health threats. Our partners provide high-quality scientific data quickly to support decision-making by health authorities, including pathogen detection, analysis, and response planning. To better prevent and respond to future epidemics, Durable also focuses on sustainable capacity building, training, and rapid deployment of countermeasures. Durable is short for Delivering a Unified Research Alliance of Biomedical and public health Laboratories against Epidemics.
