Dabei nutzt das Team einen Reststoff aus dem Ananasanbau als Rohstoff für die Gewinnung von qualitativ hochwertigem Zellstoff. eco:fibr möchte sichere und fair bezahlte Arbeitsplätze in Costa Rica unterstützen und zugleich die Ökologie und Ökonomie des Ananasanbaus sicherstellen. Bei der Entwicklung des Verfahrens zur Zellstoffproduktion aus Ananasblättern wird bewusst auf den Einsatz von umweltschädlichen Chemikalien verzichtet. Der Zellstoff von eco:fibr kann als Alternative zu herkömmlichen Holzzellstoff eingesetzt und so als jedes erdenkliche Papier- und Kartonageprodukt verwendet werden.
