At Starwan, we revolutionize the construction industry by turning a global environmental problem—discarded vehicle tires—into a sustainable solution: eco-friendly, premium, longer-lasting (50+ years) roofing materials. According to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, globally, over 1.5 billion car tires are discarded annually. And there are currently over 4 billion such tires in landfills, stockpiled, and dumpsites worldwide. In Ghana alone, over 2 million waste car tires are generated every year. This is a serious challenge that causes environmental and health risks. Meanwhile, there is a global shift in demand towards eco-friendly/green building solutions. Our innovation lies in converting these tires into eco-friendly roofing materials that not only outperform all traditional roofing options but also significantly reduce carbon footprints and landfill waste. Environmental Impact: Drastically reducing tire pollution and supporting circular economy principles. Social Impact: Delivering sustainable roofing alternatives to underserved and climate-vulnerable communities. Economic Value: Unlocking job creation, scalable production, and long-term affordability. We’ve developed a 3D prototype design and are preparing to launch a physical MVP that will challenge the norm in roofing—more durable, fire-resistant, longer-lasting (50+ years), and sustainable than conventional materials.
