About Oman Society of Astronomy and Space
Efforts began on its establishment in May 2004 after the 5th Gulf Astronomy Forum held at Sultan Qaboos University. After that, several meetings were held to determine objectives and formulate the society's scheme in consultation with the concerned parties from the Ministry of Social Development and recommend board members to start the procedures of accreditation and publication of the association. The number of founders reached 50 who are interested in astronomy. Oman Astronomical Society was announced on Saturday, June 7, 2008 by a ministerial decree from the Minister of Social Development.
