About Girl Economics
Hi, I’m Erin! I’ve just wrapped up my A-levels and I’m excited to start studying economics at Cambridge (hopefully!) next year. My love for economics and politics has always been strong, but I often found myself being the only girl at economics events and competition award ceremonies. Having attended an all-girls secondary school, I didn’t face much gender bias in my subject choices, but talking to my peers, I realised that many young girls do. This leads to boys being twice as likely to choose A-level economics as girls, for example. That’s why I launched Girl Economics. Our goal is to empower young women to choose economics through education, inspiring interviews, online sessions, and in-person events. We highlight successful women in economics and business, sharing their stories and insights. We’re active on social media too, reporting on current affairs with a focus on women in leadership. Since starting in March 2024, Girl Economics has interviewed over 30 amazing women and reached over 100,000 young people on LinkedIn. Plus, we’ve grown a community of over 5,000 newsletter subscribers. Join us as we inspire the next generation of female economists!
