About Indaba Foundation
At the Indaba Foundation, we are committed to reshaping the future through transformative education, focusing on women's empowerment and Early Childhood Development (ECD). Led by our visionary founder Andre Shearer, who is deeply engaged in Early Childhood Education, we strive to improve the well-being and education of the world's youngest, most vulnerable, and at-risk children. Our flagship initiative, the Community-Rooted Education (CoRE) program, is a groundbreaking seven-month course designed to empower women directly within their communities. Through CoRE, we provide world-class, internationally recognized Montessori teacher training, learning materials, and educational infrastructure. By introducing skilled and resourced educators into communities in the child's earliest years of life, we aim to greatly enhance their chances of a successful adulthood, thereby elevating families, societies, and building a better future for South Africa. The Indaba Institute, the only training institute accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), offers comprehensive teacher training in age-group spheres for children aged 0-3 and 3-6. With an eight-year commitment to our vision, we have established a world-class delivery platform and continue to evolve our programs through curriculum development, training capacity building, and robust monitoring and evaluation processes. Through CoRE, we address the specific needs and challenges of communities, providing relevant, context-specific education, skills training, and support networks that contribute to sustainable development and social transformation.
