About International Lipid Expert Panel (ILEP)
The International Lipid Expert Panel (ILEP) is a highly professional group of worldwide recognized experts in the field of atherosclerosis, preventive cardiology, nutrition and lipid disorders, founded by Prof. Maciej Banach in 2015. The Panel has almost 100 members and over 50 National Societies and Research Groups. The main role of ILEP is to prepare recommendations on a very hot issues that complete the existing ones as well as translate the guidelines into every-day clinical practice, allowing to implement them easily. ILEP members are also engaged in (i) writing opinions on new drugs/fixed combinations/polypills supportive or against introduction of given preparation on the market based on available EBM; (ii) supporting national societies in the discussion with the payers on reimbursement of given medicines from the field; (iii) collaborating with lead pharmaceutical companies on new RCTs in order to help to find the patients for the given trial via National Societies; (iv) applying for joint grants from EU framework programs, NIH, NSF, Wellcome Trust, National Agencies, Charity organizations and for research grants of pharmaceutical companies; (v) beginning collaborative and comparative studies and registries in the most critical populations, e.g. with rare diseases, statin intolerance; and finally (vi) in organizing small very specialist meetings, workshops, symposiums, especially including those with using online software (e.g. webinars) to increase the knowledge on atherosclerosis prevention and lipid disorders diagnosis and therapy especially in those countries where the level of knowledge is still low and the results of diagnosis and therapy very far from expected.
