About Internet Governance Forum Italia - IGF
IGF Italia is a global debate platform conducted under the auspices of the United Nations, which promotes dialogue and discussion among all stakeholders using a multi-stakeholder approach, allowing them to talk, exchange information, and share initiatives related to Internet Governance. IGF is founded on the principles of transparency, openness, inclusivity, and the identification of agenda topics through a bottom-up approach. It encourages and facilitates dialogue among all parties involved in the internet ecosystem, following a principle of equal participation. IGF was established by the United Nations Secretary-General in 2006 as a result of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS 2003 - 2005), with a mandate to discuss public interest issues related to internet governance. Over the years, it has become the focal point for global discussions on internet governance due to its multi-stakeholder discussion and engagement model. The role of the United Nations is solely that of a promoter and facilitator. IGF stakeholders are divided into four groups (governments, industry, civil society, academia/technical community), and they are complemented by representatives from international organizations (including ICANN, ITU, UNESCO, etc.), media, and other communities relevant to the advancement of the internet
