About ISRAAID Uganda
IsraAID Uganda is a Non-Governmental Organization that supports refugees and host communities across Uganda. We do this through participatory and community-driven approaches and processes where we support the local leadership of the host communities and the refugees to build resilience, grow skills and gain knowledge that will lead to sustainable impact. The processes we engage refugees and host communities in are twofold, the emergency interventions and the long-term interventions. The emergency interventions are needs and relief based aimed at reducing suffering and saving lives and preserving dignity. The long-term interventions gradually usher them onto a trajectory of thinking and positioning themselves for development by enabling them to adopt a mindset that focuses on the long-term skills for survival in Uganda and for the future when they return to their countries. Since inception in 2016 in Adjumani, we expanded operations to Gulu town among the displaced populations (affected by the Kony war) and later to Palorinya Refugee Settlement in northern Uganda. In 2024, we began work in Nakivale Refugee Settlement in the southwest of the country. Flexibility and continuous learning are at the heart of our operations. We tailor our interventions to meet the specific needs of each community, balancing long-term resilience and capacity-building with rapid emergency responses. Our activities range from water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects to nutrition and health support and the establishment of community centers and Psycho social support. Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS) are one of our cornerstone programs. These spaces provide not only a safe environment for children but also serve as community hubs for fostering resilience, addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and providing psychosocial support. Our holistic approach also includes door-to-door visits and referrals to partner organizations to ensure all community members receive the necessary care and supp
