About 🌎 Language for Justice ⚖️
Language for Justice (LFJ) is a grassroots counter-colonial communication initiative by and for interpreters, translators, and language advocates from marginalized and underrepresented communities. We believe language should be a bridge, not a barrier. We address linguistic exclusion by providing our community with access to professional development, specialized training, and direct advocacy. We are now expanding our scope to support mission-driven organizations globally with their interpreting and industry-related needs. To that end, our first Cohort, in early 2025, trained dozens of new interpreters from Gaza and the West Bank who are now ready to take on jobs. Our vibrant global network connects community-based practitioners and dedicated allies from around the world who are passionate about social causes. We serve as a central hub creating both paid and unpaid opportunities, committed to elevating our members by showcasing their unique skills and bridging them to meaningful careers. Our mission is to empower our members with the necessary tools and credentials to create tangible opportunities in education, justice, healthcare, and civic life. We actively work to achieve a more equitable and multilingual world, dismantling communication hierarchies from within. We welcome volunteers, collaborators, and all who wish to join our inclusive global network of advocates speaking truth to power. Together, we foster interaction and mutual support.
