About The Learning Skills Trust

Twelve years ago four prep school Heads decided that the route to pupil success in life was not going to be achieved by continuing to prepare children for a set of knowledge based exams to be sat over four days in June. The Pre-Senior Baccalaureate was born. In 2021 a number of senior schools approached PSB, and asked if a skills framework could be developed for Years 9 – 11 to complement the PSB framework for junior and prep schools. The Skills Development Framework was born. Both frameworks are now part of the newly established Learning Skills Trust. Preparatory work was done by a PSB working group that was formed in 2010 with representatives from across the sector. During the 2010-11 academic year the PSB project group framed the principles that underpin the framework currently in place today. The Pilot Group of PSB schools was formed in January 2012. After a successful Pilot year the PSB programme is now in place and operational. In 2018 the PSB officially became a registered charity. In 2022 The Learning Skills Trust was created to incorporate both the PSB and the SDF (the Skills Development Framework, our senior school initiative).
