About Malaysian Association of Social Workers
Malaysian Association of Social Workers (MASW) is a professional body registered with the Registrar of Societies as of March 1974. It is the only association focusing on professional social work. Members comprise of social work educators and practitioners trained in social work or related fields, practicing in various social work settings, both in the public and private sectors. As a national body, members are from all over the country. The main activities are advocacy and training with the ultimate aim of ensuring that competent practice is provided by all social workers and welfare personnel to all social service clients, groups and communities. MASW has been advocating for a legislation to regulate social work. MASW participates dynamically in an advisory capacity to the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, Department of Social Welfare and related Non-Government agencies. Current and past Executive committee members has been appointed to the Special Project Team at the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development to work on enactment of the Social Work Profession Bill.
