About Martlet Fund McGill
Martlet Fund McGill is a student-run investment club based at the Desautels Faculty of Management. Focused on hedge fund strategy, macroeconomic research, and portfolio construction, the Fund offers students a structured and competitive environment to apply theory to market-driven simulations. As McGill’s first club dedicated to hedge fund-style investing, Martlet Fund bridges the gap between classroom concepts and real-world portfolio thinking. Through research pods, simulation leagues, and mentorship, we aim to prepare members for high-performance careers in asset management, trading, and global macro strategy. We currently focus on three strategies: Event-Driven, Quantitative Trading, and Long/Short Equity. Each strategy is led by two heads who mentor a team of six, consisting of two senior analysts and three junior analysts. In addition, we hold biweekly meetings dedicated to one of the three strategies, open to all general members regardless of their prior knowledge or experience. These sessions foster an inclusive environment that encourages learning, collaboration, and growth.
