The scope of activities extends from relations between states to assistance for individual citizens. Ulkoministeriö edistää Suomen ja suomalaisten turvallisuutta ja hyvinvointia sekä toimii turvallisen ja oikeudenmukaisen maailman hyväksi. Ulkoministeriö ja sen alainen edustustoverkko ulkomailla palvelevat suomalaisia, suomalaista talouselämää ja yhteiskuntaa, valtion johtoa sekä eduskuntaa.
