About The McGill International Review

The McGill International Review (MIR) is one of Canada’s leading undergraduate platforms for commentary and analysis on international affairs. Founded in 2000 as a student-run biannual print journal, its early contributors included Louise Arbour, former Supreme Court justice and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the late Desmond Morton, one of Canada’s foremost historians. Today, MIR operates as a fully digital publication, publishing year-round on global political, economic, and cultural issues. It also hosts a regular podcast featuring interviews with figures in diplomacy, journalism, and academia. Recent podcast guests include Bob Rae, Canada’s Ambassador to the UN; Clarissa Ward, CNN’s Chief International Correspondent; Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories; and Gerald Butts, former Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
