About MOVE IT! Filmfestival für Menschenrechte
Das MOVE IT! Filmfestival ist das einzige Filmfestival in den neuen Bundesländern mit dem Fokus Menschenrechte. 2004 von Akifra e.V. gegründet, findet es jährlich im November im Thalia Kino in Dresden statt. Das Festival zeigt üblicherweise an sechs Tagen aktuelle nationale und internationale Dokumentar- und Spielfilme mit Bezug zum Thema Menschenrechte, überwiegend Premieren in Dresden. Umrahmt werden die Filmvorstellungen nicht nur durch zahlreiche Filmgespräche mit Regisseuren, Produzenten, Aktivisten und Fachexperten, sondern auch durch 2 Konzerte und einem Festival-Brunch am Festivalsonntag. Film kennt kein Alter und das filmpädagogische Begleitprogramm MOVE IT! Young präsentiert am Festivalwochenende zwei Filme für Kinder- und Jugendliche, die in der Nachmittagsvorstellung zu sehen sind. Auch diese werden nachbesprochen und das Publikum hat die Möglichkeit, sich an der Filmdiskussion zu beteiligen. Als Festivalhighlight vergibt der Akifra e.V. zusammen mit der Stadt Dresden seit 2015 den „Dresdner Filmpreis für Menschenrechte“ an einen von der Festivaljury ausgewählten Film. Der Preis ist mit 2000 Euro dotiert. Außerhalb des Festivalzeitraumes finden Filmabende an verschiedenen Veranstaltungsorten in Dresden statt. Das MOVE IT! Filmfestival arbeitet mit vielen Kooperationspartnern aus der Kultur- und Filmbranche sowie mit entwicklungspolitischen Initiativen und Akteuren zusammen.
