About The MultiCare Youth Foundation
The MultiCare Youth Foundation (MYF) is an award-winning youth development organisation providing critical social intervention programmes for vulnerable young Jamaicans. We are “in the business of changing lives” by creating positive pathways for at-risk youth through various holistic programmes, projects and opportunities. These are designed to advance workforce development, respond to our protégées' potential, and meet employers' needs. All our initiatives feature five critical “pillars”: Life Skills, Vocational Skills, Mentorship, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Paid Internships. Our Foundation is a hybrid organisation: part NGO and the charitable arm of The ICD Group. We are the amalgamation of three youth-serving organisations, legally merged on March 31, 2017: - The MultiCare Foundation was established in 1993 to enrich the lives of children in 32 underserved schools through sports and the visual and performing arts; - Youth Upliftment Through Employment (YUTE) was launched in 2010 to provide skills training and employment opportunities for unattached, at-risk youth and - Jamaica’s premiere mentoring organisation, Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU), founded in 1991. The 2020 recipient of the Prime Minister’s National Youth Award for Excellence in Youth Development, The MYF has positively impacted the lives of more than 200,000 children and youth. Our network of innovative and practical projects and programmes continues to transform the lives of at-risk young Jamaicans across marginalised communities in six parishes: Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, St. James and Westmoreland. In January 2020, The MYF made a strategic shift to focus primarily on youth between the ages of 15 – 29 years, as records show that they are the most at risk of becoming involved in crime and violence.
