About Northeast Women in Tech
Northeast Women In Tech (NEWIT) is a youth- and women-led non-profit organization dedicated to equipping women and girls across Northeastern Nigeria with relevant technological skills, leadership training, and mindset reorientation to enable their full participation in the digital economy. We are bridging the gender gap in technology by equipping women and girls with the technological skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive in the evolving digital economy. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and community-driven programs, NEWIT inspires innovation, fosters creativity, and promotes leadership among young women, enabling them to become creators, leaders, and changemakers in their communities. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to move women and girls in Northeastern Nigeria from dependency to agency, giving them the tools, knowledge, and opportunities to thrive and actively contribute to Nigeria’s and Africa’s digital economy, regardless of our unique backgrounds or the harsh realities we face. We believe that when women are equipped to participate fully in technology and innovation, they not only transform their own lives but also drive sustainable development and social change within their communities.
