About Open Culture Science
Open Culture Science builds Habitat™, the personal computer of cell culture, an AI-native hardware platform that automates the growth and analysis of human cell and tissue models. Each desktop-sized system combines microfluidic culture, high-density electrophysiology, and live imaging into a single instrument designed from the ground up to be operated by AI agents rather than pipettes, closing the loop from experimental design to execution to interpretation without a human at every step. Biology has less than 1% of the data needed to model the living cell, and what exists is sparse and under-documented. The bottleneck is no longer reasoning; it's the ability to run dense, reproducible experiments on living tissue at scale. Habitat generates that data, and turns it into decisions in real time, on the same sample, across electrical, chemical, and optical axes. The architecture is centralized intelligence with decentralized execution. Every attempt to consolidate the wet lab into one mega-facility has failed because all the specimens, expertise, and instruments can't be co-located. We put a programmable, auditable lab wherever the science is. As the FDA accelerates the shift toward human-relevant, reproducible, traceable data over animal models, Habitat delivers the infrastructure for that era, making biology as shareable, reliable, and collaborative as software.
