Oryx Desert Salt has a particularly unique origin tale, which begins in the heart of the Kalahari Desert, when Samantha Skyring, our founder & CEO, decided to walk 7 days/120km /155 miles through the Namib Desert in July 2000, having close encounters with the Oryx gazelle, she had no idea this experience would profoundly influence the creation of the global brand, Oryx Desert Salt Samantha then discovered Salt being harvested from an ancient source within the pristine, remote Kalahari Desert and had the vision to share this natural, essential, timeless mineral from Southern Africa with the rest of the world The Oryx, a symbol of the Kalahari, truly honours the heritage of Oryx Desert Salt. Oryx Desert Salt is harvested from a sustainable source within the vast Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa, from an ancient underground salt lake, fed by subterranean streams, flowing through 250million-year-old Dwyka rock strata and then laid to rest on a natural pan under the hot African sun. 100% sundried, harvested, unrefined & unprocessed, our salt contains the perfect natural balance of minerals and trace elements, allowing the body to absorb and utilise for optimal functioning, vitality, and health Packaged in environmentally responsible refillable grinders and refills.
