About Palanga City Municipality
Palanga is the biggest resort in Lithuania near the Baltic Sea. Lithuania is a member of EU, it borders the Baltic Sea, Latvia, Belarus, Poland and Russia (Kaliningrad). Palanga is situated in the West of the country. Current area of Palanga is 79 square kilometres. Population is 17 800. Coastline is about 25 km. Since 2005 Palanga beaches gets Blue flag ratings (our beaches are clean, safe and corresponds all environmental requirements). The resort is a member of European Spas Association (ESPA) since 2005. The history of Palanga as a resort starts from 1877 with the most valuable cultural heritage object in the city – Kurhouse. Family of Count Tiškevičius left a big amount of cultural heritage objects in Palanga. One of them is the most popular and visited museums in Lithuania - the Amber Museum (over 30 000 exclusive amber exibits). The city develops very fast and is open to the investments. Every year Palanga City Minicipality develops international partnership with cities partners. In 2017 Palanga was awarded with Hohor Budget (Plancet) from Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly. Palanga is the modern resort and a very good place to rest and to live!!! Welcome to Palanga!!!
