About Purdue National Security & Defense Society
The Purdue National Security & Defense Society (NSDS) is the first ever defense-oriented student organization at Purdue, and one of few in the nation. Founded in June 2024, NSDS has since amassed over 350 registered members, raised over $120,000 through Purdue grants and industry sponsorships, and organized massive professional development events serving thousands of students. These events include career fairs with 40+ defense employers and 500+ students in attendance, large research symposiums with poster presentations from a wide variety of defense initiatives, and speaker series featuring two-star generals, defense-prime executives, and startup CEOs. NSDS serves as the student arm of Purdue’s defense ecosystem and aims to assist Purdue in its mission to become the #1 university in the nation for national security and defense. Our goal is to connect defense employers with our unique pool of defense-interested and defense-eligible students while providing our members with the information and tools needed to succeed in the Department of War and defense industry. We achieve this through a variety of technical projects that address real-world needs in the defense ecosystem, through aforementioned professional development events, and through a growing community of like-minded students.
