Sankar Polytechnic College was established in 1958, by Sri S.N.N. Sankarlinga Iyer of Kallidaikuruchi, Tirunelvelli Dist, a well-known industrialist and philanthropist, who was one of the founding Directors of India Cements Limited. Sri T.S. Narayanaswami personified a business culture and way of life that valued the nation and its citizens. He was a visionary and his entrepreneurship had a positive impact on industrialization in South India. He was a mentor to many luminaries and continues to be a source of inspiration for many. The history of the institution is engrained in the post independent era of India, when there was a huge demand for institutions imparting technical knowledge and skills, needed to support the rapid phase of industrialization of the nation.
