About SRI (Self Reliant India)
Self Reliant India (SRI) exists to break intergenerational poverty. We believe that every child, regardless of where they are born, deserves a clear pathway from education to opportunity and economic independence. Yet for millions of children across India, poverty continues to limit access to quality learning, meaningful livelihoods, and upward mobility. SRI works within India's public education systems and communities to change that. Rather than creating parallel structures, we strengthen the systems that already serve children and families. Our approach focuses on building sustainable mobility pathways that help individuals move from learning to earning, and from dependence to self-reliance. Our work is delivered through three models: • Nanhe Kalam Fellowship Program, through which fellows provide academic and developmental support to strengthen foundational learning of students. • Dronacharya Program - We support government teachers with pedagogy, curriculum and technology to create sustainable classroom change. • Saajhedari Program - We collaborate with organisation to integrate and scale proven mobility pathways across communities and geographies. At SRI, we see poverty as a cycle that passes from one generation to the next. Breaking that cycle requires more than short-term interventions. It requires strong systems, long-term commitment, and pathways that connect education with opportunity. Everything we do is guided by a simple belief: lasting change happens when people have the knowledge, skills, support, and opportunities they need to shape their own futures. Our vision is an India where every child and every family has the opportunity to achieve economic independence and build a better future for generations to come.
