About Shaw Heritage Arts & Wellbeing Studios
Shaw Heritage Arts and Wellbeing (SHAW) Studios is a charity dedicated to strengthening mental wellbeing, social connection and healthy ageing through evidence-based arts and heritage practices that bridge healthcare, community and culture. Created in response to the high prevalence of mental health concerns in Singapore, we are a centre for creative health convening artists, healthcare professionals, community partners, philanthropists and corporate leaders to create programmes that strengthen wellbeing, foster connection and deliver measurable social impact. --- Programmes --- 1. Mama Melodies This 10-week, evidence-based singing programme is designed to support new mothers with, or at risk of postnatal depression (PND) through group singing, music and movement. It is the first-of-its-kind programme* outside of Europe informed by Breathe Melodies for Mums (run by Breathe Arts Health Research in the UK). Post-programme, 79% of our participants experienced clinically meaningful reductions in PND symptoms as measured by the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (1-20 points), with a mean improvement of 6.1 and largest improvement of 14 points. * adapted by SHAW Studios for Singapore participants 2. Memories in Motion Commissioned by the National Arts Council (NAC), this 6-week programme aims to enhance the overall well-being of seniors through arts and reminiscence approaches that foster a sense of identity, build social connections, and meaningful engagement. 3. Art Sandbox Commissioned by the NAC, this 6-week multidisciplinary arts programme aims to increase social interaction, improve physical and cognitive functioning and foster genuine connection for seniors. 4. Dance Me to the Moon In partnership with Decadance and commissioned by the NAC, this 6-week programme aims to improve physical and cognitive well-being of seniors. It also seeks to promote social interaction and build self-confidence.
