About Sisters of Support CIC
Sisters of support is a women’s mental health free to attend peer-led support group. We want to end the idea women talk. Most need support to be able to open up and talk freely while feeling safe. #weARElistening SOS was founded in June 2021 by Carrie and Amy. "We identified though personal experience, a lack of mental health support for women in our area". The Newton Aycliffe group has run since then. Sisters of support is a peer-led group geared to supporting women (over 18 only) in our community who may be struggling with their mental health or just the every day pressures of modern living. We are dedicated to providing a safe environment where women can talk, be listened to, without being judged and feel confident enough to share their thoughts, fears and concerns surrounding their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Our aims are: To promote the emotional wellbeing of women by providing a safe and supportive environment for sharing experiences, resources, and coping strategies. To provide practical assistance and guidance to women facing challenges such as domestic violence, trauma, or social isolation, but connecting them with appropriate resources and support networks. To foster a sense of community among women by organising social events, group activities and peer-led support aimed at building connections and reducing loneliness and isolation. We aim to work alongside businesses and supporting services to create a tailored experience for every woman who walks alongside us.
