Slime is a gooey substance made with basic materials like glue and diluted borax. The fun begins when you add dye, colored foam beads, clay, glitter, delicious scents, and more, elevating a boring mixture into an addicting craft to poke and prod. I discovered this slime craze in my freshman year of high school. Shortly after, I started an Instagram to showcase my single-batch, household creations alongside my then 8-year-old sister. After posting countless videos that I found intriguing and outside-the-box, my account attracted a following. More and more, the feedback I received on my posts was overwhelming and this prompted me to open an Etsy shop. 18,000 online sales and one million Instagram followers later, I would not only transition to my own online domain but be invited to sell at slime conventions across the country. As anyone could imagine, I have experienced and learned so much through this social media-driven online business of mine. But nothing has amazed me more, both as my past 14-year-old self with so much in front of her as well as me today, than the sheer reality that something I was making with my hands, love, and energy could be wanted by someone across the globe. And they could have it.
