About Social Voices
Social Voices is an innovative media and development organisation that harnesses storytelling to highlight and promote transformative solutions to real-world issues, as well as advance democracy. Emerging as a pioneer in the practice and application of solutions journalism in 2021, our newsroom participated in the Solutions Journalism Africa Initiative (SJAI), establishing us as a leading digital source for in-depth, solutions-focused coverage of gender issues, climate change, healthcare, education, and development. Since then, we have empowered over 300 journalists across West Africa with the tools and knowledge to integrate solutions journalism principles into their reporting. We have also expanded our focus to produce and feature solutions-oriented stories that originate from and address issues within Nigeria, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Uganda. Additionally, we have successfully nurtured a network of over 100 freelance journalists who support our work and contribute to our digital platform. Our mission is to be the preeminent voice amplifying stories, influencing solutions, and driving collective action among communities across Nigeria and Africa through pioneering solutions-focused journalism and citizen engagement initiatives. We envision a continent where marginalised voices shape equitable policies, grassroots solutions thrive, and informed citizens actively engage in the decision-making processes that affect their lives.
