About Society for Indian Children's Welfare
SOCIETY FOR INDIAN CHILDREN'S WELFARE also referred to as SICW was born in 1979, the International Year of the Child. We are a non-profit social welfare organisation serving the needs of destitute women and children for over three decades. We are licensed by the Department of Women & Child Development, Government of West Bengal and also as a Fit Institution under the Government of India, Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act 2006. We are also recognised by the Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA), Government of India to undertake Inter-country adoptions. Over the years we have grown and blossomed into a vibrant and visionary movement dedicated to the betterment and rehabilitation of children and women. The story has been one of love, compassion, sacrifice and the power of the human spirit to triumph against all odds. Our services encompass a vast spectrum from placing children with loving families to educating them, providing vocational training, ensuring medical treatment, counselling services, sponsoring paediatric heart and eye surgeries and raising funds for children afflicted with thallasemia. A strong network of support from well wishers, sponsors, and donors in India and abroad has really been the foundation of our growth. Our journey so far has been challenging but fulfilling and we still feel that we have a million miles to go. The needs of helpless children are endless and every day brings a new reason to reach out to help those in need.
