About State Chambers

State Chambers was founded in 1997 by Richard Burbidge QC and Richard Kenzie AM QC and was opened by the Hon. Gordon Samuels AC QC. Shane Prince SC is now Head of Chambers. State Chambers is a modern, cutting-edge set of Chambers whose members have excelled in terms of qualifications and experience in a number of specialty practice areas. The practice areas for which State Chambers is renowned include: Public law; Common law; Employment and Industrial Relations law; and Commercial law. Chambers also has a focus on Human Rights and has, as an Honorary Member, the first Federal Human Rights Commissioner for Australia, Professor Brian Burdekin AO. State Chambers has had more members listed in both the 2017 and 2018 Leading Employment & WHS Counsel section of Doyle’s Guide than any other Chambers in Sydney. A number of former members of State Chambers have been appointed to Federal and State courts and we have always had a significant proportion of leading silks and senior juniors on the floor.
