About Swab The World
Mai Duong, our founder, was diagnosed with leukemia for the second time, and faced difficulties finding a compatible stem cell donor due to her ethnicity. Stem cell transplants are often the last resort for curing blood cancer. Context: In order for a stem cell transplant to work, the patient and donor must share the same ethnic background. Currently, there is a shortage of non-Caucasian stem cell donors. Our mission: To raise awareness about stem cell donation. To diversify the global registry. To help patients find compatible donors. All patients, regardless of their ethnic background, deserve the same chance of survival. - Mai Duong, notre fondatrice, diagnostiquée une seconde fois avec la leucémie, a eu des difficultés à trouver un donneur de cellules souches compatible en raison de ses origines ethniques. C’est souvent le traitement de dernier recours pour guérir de la leucémie. Contexte : Les greffes de cellules souches nécessitent des donneurs de la même origine ethnique, mais il existe une grave pénurie de donneurs non-Causasiens. Notre mission : Sensibiliser au don de cellules souches. Diversifier le registre mondial des donneurs. Aider les patients à trouver des donneurs compatibles.
