About Swaziland Migrant Mineworkers Association
Swaziland Migrant Mineworkers Association (SWAMMIWA) was formed in 1993 to help organize migrant mineworkers, ex-migrant mineworkers, widows and children of ex-miners who have been affected and infected by TB, Silicosis and HIV. Its mandate is to improve the quality of life of migrant mineworkers and their beneficiaries in Swaziland by effectively advocating for access to better health and social benefits and implementing initiatives that respond to the needs and rights of their members as regards TB, Silicosis, HIV/TB and sustainable livelihoods. They are engaged to come up with a tool to assist widows, and ex-miners in the area of portability of social security benefits through correct reliable systems.
