About Tankyu Distillery (丹丘蒸留所） Tankyu Distillery is the first Hong Kong brand to build a whisky distillery in Hokkaido, Japan. Founded by Joseph Cheung and Kit Cheung, Tankyu Distillery brings together a diverse team from various professional backgrounds. This blend of expertise ensures a holistic and innovative approach to creating high-quality spirits. Our journey began in Hong Kong with the launch of the Hong Kong-inspired Perfume Trees Gin (白蘭樹下), which has won multiple international awards, including the Master Medal in The Spirits Business Gin Masters (UK) and Best of Class Platinum at the SIP Awards (USA). We also produce a range of premium locally made liquors in Hong Kong, including the “Pale Ink” and “thence.” series. Now in Higashikawa, Hokkaido, we are crafting exceptional craft gin and single malt whisky using the pure spring water from the Daisetsuzan mountain range, local rice from Higashikawa, and unique botanicals from the terroir.
