About TeamKART Motorsports
TeamKART Motorsports was started by a group of enthusiastic students at IIT Kharagpur in the year 2008. Since then, there has been a steady rise in our potential as a team. Our journey began with our first car KX-1. Though we faced many problems in the beginning, mainly in terms of financial aid, we rose above all obstacles making our first run a grand success. In less than two years, we achieved the feat of competing in an international event with KX-1. We were shortlisted for the Airbus Teamwork Award in Formula Student UK in 2010. We also participated in the 2011 and 2013 editions of the same event with K1 and K2 respectively. The year 2015 saw our participation in the Formula Design Challenge by JK Tyre with K2.2. We bagged 2nd position in both the Business Presentation and Cost Report in this Indian event. With our 4th car K3, we took part in Formula Bharat 2017 and secured 2nd rank in the Business Presentation event. We added another feather to our cap by introducing our first aerodynamic component—an underbody diffuser—in our 6th car K4. We participated in Formula Bharat 2019 and cleared three rounds of Technical Inspection. We also presented our first-ever electric vehicle design at the FSEV Concept Challenge 2019 and secured 4th rank. With renewed vigour, we took up the challenge of building a vehicle within a year and participated in Formula Bharat 2020 with K5. K5 featured custom data acquisition systems and sensors. We stood 6th in Engineering Design, 2nd in Business Plan, and 15th in Cost and Manufacturing, achieving an overall ranking of 10th out of 51 teams. We also participated in the FSEV Challenge 2020 with the goal of improving our performance and secured 5th position out of 37 teams internationally. Additionally, we bagged 2nd place in the Design event and received a special mention for the achievement.
