About Team Derby Motorsport
Team Derby Motorsport is the University of Derby’s applied motorsport division. A Student-driven race team built to turn classroom engineering into real-world performance. We operate as a live learning platform where students work alongside experienced staff and professional drivers to develop the skills and behaviours demanded in professional motorsport. From race preparation and testing to data analysis and decision-making under pressure, students gain direct exposure to the standards, pace, and professionalism of modern circuit racing, which transposes across the wider engineering discipline. Our programme currently competes in the Radical Cup UK, while also developing performance capability through simulation and E-sports. This combination gives students experience across both physical and digital motorsport environments - reflecting where the industry is heading. Above all, Team Derby Motorsport exists for one purpose: to develop employable, industry-ready engineers through real racing, real data, and real responsibility. We are proud to represent the University of Derby and the wider motorsport community - and we are always open to conversations with organisations looking to support education, skills development, and future talent through meaningful partnerships.
