About Valor
Valor was founded by Kunal Sinha, Xiao Su, and Johannes Elbert to commercialize a new approach to critical minerals separation. Our current investors include Transition VC by and Zero Infinity Partners, and angel investors including Mark Cutifani (ex-CEO of Anglo American and ex-Chairman of Vale Base Metals), Sean Hunt and Gaurab Chakrabarti (co-founders of Solugen), Jeff Johnson (General Partner at B Capital), Nick Popovic (ex-Head of Copper and Zinc at Glencore), and Matt Severson (ex-Head of Tesla's battery supply chain), among others. The company was incubated with support from Enchant, an early-stage venture studio. Our electrochemical separation and refining platform, developed in the Su Lab at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and exclusively licensed to Valor, replaces conventional methods with tunable, redox-active interfaces. The result: higher selectivity, lower reagent consumption, smaller footprint, and economics that work on feedstocks beyond the reach of legacy hydro and pyro. Valor is headquartered in New York with its pilot facility under construction at Solugen's Houston campus. We are building the operating company for the next era of critical minerals processing and metals production— secure, domestic, and economically competitive.
