About Vardhishnu - Social Research & Development Society
Founded in the heart of Jalgaon, Maharashtra, Vardhishnu is more than just a non-profit. We are a movement of hope - a growing community of changemakers committed to building inclusive, compassionate, and resilient ecosystems for children from the most marginalized backgrounds. At Vardhishnu, we believe that every child deserves a childhood which is safe, joyful, and full of possibilities . We work directly with vulnerable children, including child waste pickers, child labourers, and those at risk of dropping out of school, ensuring that their circumstances do not define their future. Our journey began with a simple but powerful question: What does it take to build a world where no child is left behind? From the slums and dumping grounds of Jalgaon to rural hamlets and underserved communities, we go where help is most needed—and stay until change becomes sustainable. What We Do Our core focus areas include education, child protection, and community empowerment. We enable children to transition from streets and exploitative labour into safe learning spaces and formal schools. But our work doesn’t stop there we actively partner with communities to build long-term, systemic change. Through our programs, we: - Through our Anandghar program Run Community Learning Centers for out-of-school children to prepare them for mainstream education. - Rehabilitate and reintegrate child waste pickers and child labourers into society with dignity and care. - Build grassroots leadership through our Community Collectives program across multiple Indian states. - Advocate for and strengthen child-friendly ecosystems through training, capacity building, and policy engagement. Our mission is not just to protect vulnerable children, but to transform entire communities into safe, nurturing, and self-sustaining environments where children can learn, grow, and lead with confidence.
