The idea for ViddyScribe was born out of the Gemini API Developer Competition hosted by Google and Chrome. Cofounders Patrick Burton and Aaditya Vaze recognized a major gap in video accessibility: while captions are now commonplace, audio descriptions remain rare, difficult to produce, and often costly. With Aaditya’s expertise in AI and Patrick’s experience in video, and their combined history building assistive tools for the blind community, they teamed up to build a tool that makes describing videos as simple as uploading a file. The first version of ViddyScribe was developed in under three weeks and was selected by Google as a standout project in the competition. Today, it’s the world’s first platform that allows creators to generate, preview, and share audio-described videos from a simple web interface. Our mission is to democratize accessible media. We believe blind and low-vision users deserve the same access to online video that sighted users enjoy. ViddyScribe empowers creators to bridge that gap. No studio, no narrator, no delays.
