About Village Impact

Village Impact is a Canadian charity working in partnership with government and rural communities in Kenya to build and resource public schools, creating safe, functional places where children can learn, grow, and begin to see bigger possibilities for their lives. For more than 16 years, Village Impact has worked in Nakuru County in Kenya’s Rift Valley, responding to the realities facing deeply under-resourced public schools in communities affected by poverty, conflict, and the lasting impact of the 2007/2008 election violence. In many of these areas, overcrowded classrooms, unsafe infrastructure, and limited access to basic services have created serious barriers to learning, wellbeing, and hope. Village Impact believes lasting change is built through partnership, not quick fixes. From the beginning, the organization has worked alongside local government, trusted local organizations, school leaders, and communities to strengthen education from the ground up and support long-term local ownership. At its core, Village Impact exists to improve access to quality public education by addressing the foundational conditions that make learning possible. This includes building and upgrading classrooms, improving water, sanitation, and electricity, supporting school leadership, and resourcing schools with programs that strengthen student wellbeing and opportunity. Over time, that work has grown to include child protection and wellness support, food programming, digital skills access, student leadership and experiential learning opportunities, and capacity-building initiatives for principals and teachers. To date, Village Impact has constructed 16 schools and more than 300 classrooms across Nakuru County. Every part of its work is designed to align with Kenya’s public education system and strengthen school stability, sustainability, and brighter futures for over 6,000 children every day.
