About Wealthy Habits
Wealthy Habits was created with the goal of helping children gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become truly financially secure. Mission To empower children and adults across the socioeconomic spectrum with the knowledge and skills essential for successful financial decision making. The Foundation's focus is to facilitate the delivery of education and resources that will provide an opportunity for personal financial flexibility to those who might otherwise be unable to achieve it. Why is financial literacy for our children important? Imagine how life would be different if we had learned at an early age how to manage money wisely and invest it for the future. Our next generation of adults (18- to 34-year-olds) are more likely to be less financially capable than our previous generations, with 23% spending more than their household income, 68% not having three months of expenses saved in case of an emergency, 34% engaging in expensive, non-bank borrowing, and averaging only 2.6 correct out of 5 questions covering concepts of economics and finance expressed in everyday life. Nearly 44% of Americans don’t have enough savings or other liquid assets to stay out of poverty for more than three months if they lose their income. Almost a third have no savings accounts at all.
