About Women on Boards
Women on Boards was founded in 2006 in Australia and in 2012 in the UK by Claire Braund OAM and Ruth Medd. It has grown into a thriving network of extraordinary women who come together as they commence or continue their board and leadership journeys. Since 2009 WOB’s vision has been to increase the number of women on boards to a minimum of 40%. We welcome the fact that many other advocacy groups have since adopted this vision which was inspired by Norway's 40% under represented gender quota law. Many boards across many sectors have achieved this 40% benchmark. However within gender we now need to look more closely at cultural and First Nations diversity on boards and raise awareness and create opportunities for non Anglo women to achieve board roles. Anyone with an interest in serving on boards or succeeding in their career is welcome to join WOB. There are no barriers to entry. It is free to register on our website with a fee to then join as a Classic or Premium Member. Advantages of membership include: - Access to board & committee positions on our Vacancy Board - CV support and access to On Demand learning - Access to our member-only online community - Up to 40% discount on WOB events & workshops - Access to free member only events, such as WOBChat & Director Lunches - Information & resources to assist and motivate you We also inform, support, connect, mentor and encourage you in your directorship and career journey.
